‘Part-time AM on a full-time wage’
A UKIP Assembly member – who is also a Member of the European Parliament – has been dubbed a “part-time AM on a full-time wage” after it emerged he had missed more than two-thirds of the votes in the Chamber and is facing calls for his resignation.
Research by Golwg magazine revealed that, out of 95 votes that have come before the Assembly this term, North Wales AM Nathan Gill was absent for 65.
He has refused to resign as a Member of the European Parliament, despite calls from within his own party to do so.
Now Llyr Gruffydd, Plaid Cymru’s North Wales AM, has called on Nathan Gill to stand down:
“It is unacceptable that someone who is supposed to represent the North is happy to take a full wage without attending votes and participating in Assembly business. He’s a part-time AM on a full-time wage and should resign to ensure the North has a stronger voice in the Assembly.”
