Plaid Cymru’s North Wales AM Llyr Gruffydd has backed the Disaster Emergency Committee Cymru’s Yemen Crisis Appeal. Half a million children in Yemen are currently in need of acute treatment for malnutrition and donations are urgently needed to save lives.
A video (below) is being aired on the BBC, ITV, S4C, Channel 5, Sky News and Channel 4.
Mr Gruffydd said: “More than seven million people in Yemen currently don’t know where their next meal is coming from. Children are dying of malnutrition and there is a cholera outbreak in parts of the country that requires the delivery of urgent humanitarian supplies. Although aid agencies are working in Yemen to provide lifesaving aid, Yemen is now at crisis point.
“In the face of this humanitarian disaster, the Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC) has today launched an emergency appeal to raise the funds urgently needed to save lives in Yemen.
“I’m happy to support that appeal – to donate £5 please text ASSIST to 70000. You can also call 0370 60 60 900 or visit dec.org.uk to donate any amount.”
