Llyr Gruffydd, Plaid Cymru’s North Wales AM, welcomed news today that seven local Dee Valley Water shareholders opposing the takeover bid by Severn Trent had been given leave to appeal by the courts. They have until 4pm on Monday to submit their appeal, which would then be heard the following week.
Mr Gruffydd said, “This David v Goliath fight is not over by a long way. If Severn Trent thought this small Welsh firm would just roll over and die, they’ve had a big surprise. This is becoming a test case for industry and is now getting worldwide attention.
“I wish the Magnificent Seven all the best with their appeal and they know they have the support of people throughout Wales in this important battle.”
