Responding to the National Assembly for Wales Children, Young People and Education Committee report, ‘The provision of textbooks and learning resources for pupils’, Llyr Gruffydd AM and Plaid Cymru shadow cabinet secretary for education said,
“Too many teachers for far too long have had to translate their own Welsh medium teaching material. This is wholly unacceptable and is unfair on them and their students.
The Welsh language is an official language in Wales and every pupil should have the right to study their chosen subjects in their chosen language. This should be on a basis of parity where Welsh-speakers have access to the same range of teaching resources as their English-speaking peers. No new course should be introduced in future without all teaching resources being available in both Welsh and English.“
