Responding to the announcement from the Minister for Environment, Energy and Rural Affairs that the Welsh Government will bring forward a target for Wales to achieve net zero emissions no later than 2050, Llyr Gruffydd AM and Plaid Cymru shadow minister for the environment and rural affairs said,
“This kind of ambition is not optional, it’s a necessity in the face of a looming climate catastrophe.
“The road to achieving our shared goal will be extremely challenging. We therefore today call on the government to bring together all interested political parties to work together to help realise this goal.
“Working together will make it much more likely that we will succeed in this endeavour.
“Plaid Cymru stands ready to play our part in tackling what is now the biggest challenge facing humanity.”
