Llyr Gruffydd has said that heads must roll at Ruthin School following a second damning report by Care Inspectorate Wales.
Llyr Gruffydd, Plaid Cymru AM for North Wales, said: “Heads must roll over this report’s findings. It’s been incredibly concerning to read of failings at Ruthin School and the report makes clear that ‘the leadership, management and governance relating to safeguarding was found to be inadequate and as a result, young people were not fully protected’.
“Those young people, many away from their parents for the first time, need and deserve proper safeguarding and this report identifies ‘significant and widespread concerns in respect of the wellbeing of young people’. Furthermore ‘arrangements for dealing with concerns about young people’s safeguarding were inadequate’.
“This is the second report in a year following Denbighshire Council’s concerns about safeguarding issues. Senior management must now respond quickly to allay people’s concerns and that means taking decisive action against those who are responsible for the school’s running.”
